Tyrese Gibson Breaks Down On Live Video Over Custody Battle, Full Details Inside
If you follow Tyrese Gibson on Instagram, we’re pretty sure that you’ve seen some, if not all, of his recent posts about being kept away from his ten-year-old daughter, Shayla. The legal battle has been going on for quite some time now, and it seems that the veteran actor and singer finally reached his witts end, yesterday morning, as he recorded a series of videos, pouring his heart out during an emotional breakdown.
In the early part of October, a story broke that Gibson was under an investigation by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services. According to TMZ, the investigation began after his ex-wife and child’s mother, Norma Mitchell, made a claim that he spanked their daughter, Shayla, so hard that she couldn’t even sit down, twelve to sixteen times, to be exact. Due to those claims, Gibson and Mitchell have been in a lengthy court battle, as Mitchell is now trying to get a permanent restraining order against Gibson. The restraining order will reportedly prohibit Gibson from physically disciplining their child, and she’s also wanting full legal and physical custody. Mitchell says her reasoning for this is because she feared that Gibson would take Shayla to Dubai with him and never come back.
“She’s a lying piece of sh*t. Tyrese is devasted. He’s a good guy, and I will prove that.” Terry Levich Ross, Gibson’s lawyer told TMZ.
While Gibson continues to deny those physical abuse claims, it is said that he did admit to giving her a spanking once on her bottom, which sounds like typical parenting to us. However, even though Mitchell seems adamant in her accusations, Gibson says that Mitchell is bitter because he married someone else and is using this as a revenge tactic.
As you all may know, earlier this year, the 38-year-old married a woman by the name of Samantha Lee. The two have been going strong lately, as he states that she’s been his backbone through all of this. We’ve definitely seen enough cases of the ‘bitter baby mamas’ and ‘jealous ex-wives’. However, for those of us on the outside looking in, we don’t know enough to point the finger at anyone as it stands now. But, what we do know is, Gibson seems extremely torn up about it all. Frankly, who could blame him?
A day after the news went public, Gibson took to Instagram to express his thoughts and, somewhat, clear his name.
A few days ago, Gibson received the chance to see his daughter for the first time in two months. The judge ordered him a supervised visit with the young girl, which took place this past Sunday. The two went for lunch at an In-N-Out, and from the photos released by TMZ, they both looked very happy to see each other.
However, Mitchell’s restraining order case against Gibson is far from over. It will actually continue until a final decision is made. Which is probably why the Tyrese break down was plastered all over social media. In fact, he had a complete meltdown over the legal battle, and, apparently, he wanted the whole world to see it. We’re assuming that these videos were posted via Instagram, but it looks like he deleted them. Obviously, he wasn’t fast enough because the media got hold to them rather quickly.
But, before that, Gibson began by taking shots at Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, again! From what we can see, Johnson agreed to do a Fast & Furious spin-off of the film franchise, and he didn’t tell any of his fellow cast mates. His feud with Johnson has been lingering for a minute, though. He’s made previous posts about his disappointment in Johnson’s decision.
In his first post, yesterday, Gibson states that he’s not mad about Johnson taking the job; he’s more so upset that no one knew. And, also, according to him, due to Johnson’s participation in the spin-off, the ninth installment that they agreed to do will be delayed by a year, which he said would hurt his pockets because he’s needing all of the money that he can get to pay his legal bills.
He then made a another post, confessing that if Johnson is part of the ninth installment, he would be backing out of the project, himself.
Johnson hasn’t spoken much about the situation. We think it’d be wise for Gibson to follow suit on that one.

While most believe that this could’ve been a publicity stunt or cry for attention, in another post, today, Gibson stands tall in the fact that he’s just trying to fight for his child.
We strongly believe that this is a rough patch for Gibson and our only hopes that everyone involved in this situation can come to a mutual agreement that works for the better.
