New York is often referred to as “the city that never sleeps” because of its constant activities. There is always something exciting in New York, no matter the season or time of day. And that’s great since a lot of people are craving what it has to offer.

It is one of the world’s major cities, and it is impossible to see all there is to see here in one lifetime. Many come for the shopping and dining, while others come to view the sights, such as Central Park, historic districts, and multiple world-famous museums.

Not just that, some of the world’s most well-known and exciting casinos are located in New York City. Many go to these places later in the day to unwind and have fun. The gambling, dining, and drinking establishments at these establishments are aimed at making their customers feel at ease. Although some frequent brick-and-mortar establishments, others prefer playing online poker games in New York by signing up with the best online casino sites. That’s enough talk, now let’s take a look at the major attractions in this city!

  1. Statue of Liberty

Seeing the Statue of Liberty, America’s most recognizable landmark, should be at the top of each first-time visitor’s list of things to do in New York. This was a gift from France to the United States. Built in 1886, it is still a major tourist destination and a symbol of independence across the globe.

Standing at about 152 feet (from the ground to the torch) and weighing around 450,000 pounds, it is one of the tallest sculptures in the world. Those on the dry ground may see the monument, with the best views from Battery Park in southern Manhattan. However, a visit to Liberty Island, where the Statue of Liberty is located, is the finest way to get a feel for the monument. Relax with a walk around the pedestal’s base, and if you have a reservation, go up inside the structure itself and get ready to be amazed.

  1. Metropolitan Museum of Art

Among the most renowned museums in the world is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or “the Met” as it is more often known. It opened its doors in 1870. More than two million pieces of art from the last five millennia are displayed in The Met’s permanent collection.

The Met Fifth Avenue stands out among the museum’s other two locations. The collection is mainly known for its American decorative arts, weaponry and armor, costumes, Egyptian art, musical instruments, pictures, and more. As part of Fort Tryon Park in upper Manhattan, the Met Cloisters is another must-see attraction in the city.

The European Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is dedicated to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages and is situated in a stunning building inspired by ancient chapels, cathedrals, cloisters, and halls.

  1. Casino and Gambling in New York

In the United States, the names – Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and New Jersey immediately spring to mind when discussing popular gambling destinations. The latter has been a staple for many bettors in New York over the years. However, locals know plenty of other online casinos in the state to choose from. Upstate New Yorkers have their pick of casinos since most of the state’s commercial gambling establishments are in the region.

This is because the legislation allowing commercial poker gambling facilities did so on the premise that casinos would stimulate economic growth in an otherwise economically stagnant part of the state. Upstate New York is home to most of the state’s casinos, but you may also find racinos and tribal gambling facilities around the rest of the state. The following are just a few of the New York casinos that offer real money poker tournaments:

  • Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort
  • Hamburg Gaming
  • Resorts World Catskills
  • Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack
  • Resorts World Casino NYC
  • Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino
  • Turning Stone Resort & Casino
  • Vernon Downs Casino Hotel
  • Yellow Brick Road Casino
  • Point Place Casino

  1. 9/11 Memorial and Museum

Also known as the National September 11 Memorial, it is an emotional homage to the almost 3,000 persons who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the six people who lost their lives in the February 1993 World Trade Center bomb attack.

The pools are set into the ground, bordered by shrubs and vegetation, and the water cascades over the edges into a square with no bottom. The North American continent now has its biggest artificial waterfalls here.

The names of those lost in the assaults are inscribed on bronze panels and placed around the pools. A beautiful glass edifice with sweeping curves is home to the 9/11 Memorial Museum, which can be found between the two swimming areas. Artifacts, photographs, and movies tell the tale of 9/11 and its effects.

Conclusion

New York is every tourist’s dream since so many of the city’s top attractions are conveniently located near one another, either within walking distance or on a quick subway journey. Now that fewer people are visiting, the city is more affordable and simpler to get about in.

There are also shorter lines at tourist hotspots. You should enjoy the city all to yourself and take advantage of this remote possibility. Refer to our list of must-see sights in New York to help you organize your vacation and have a good time.
