The TLC Kickstarter Produced Album Is Coming This Summer

TLC Finally Set To Release Their Kickstarter Album

It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard music from TLC. The surviving members of the R&B group announced plans to make more music in 2015. This week, the group’s manager declared that their fifth and final album will be coming out later this year, in June. This will be their first album since founding member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in 2002.

The news was revealed in a post on the group’s Kickstarter page. T-Boz and Chili have been in the studio putting the finishing touches on their final LP. T-Boz and Chili did not want to take the traditional route of getting a label involved, which is what prompted the original kickstarter project. In just one week, they received $150,000, and weeks later they earned nearly $430,255.

Because there’s been such a delay, some fans online believed the group was running a scam. Bill Diggins explained the situation in a post:

“Let me explain why this album has taken longer than expected. When we decided to do the album it was based on a number of emotional decisions and one of the biggest was how you inspired T-Boz and Chilli by your emails and texts asking them to do another album. At the time we had no music, no producers, no writers, and a few ideas. We also were in the middle of rehearsal’s for TLC’s first arena tour since The FanMail tour and therefore on the road for most of the year. It was very important to establish TLC’s touring credibility and as most of you saw TLC live I am sure you agreed that we accomplished that goal.”
