Tanya Nolan first arrived onto the music scene back in 2019 with the release of her Top 40 charting “No Pressure” single. The native Galveston, Texas, singer-songwriter-LGBTQIA+ activist has been steady on this music journey, collaborating and slowly releasing quality records.  Her latest entry, the sultry and sexual  “HONEY,” is co-written with Raheem DeVaughn. It’s just the latest in a line of singles that continue to help her grow her fan base.

In addition to making hit records, Nolan also owns the largest childcare facility in The Lone Star State, Aww Better Child Care, oversees multiple rental properties, along with over 200 employees and contractors; as well as one of the first female owned record labels, ArtsessionZ.

We caught up with the singer-entrepreneur to talk about the new music, her business ventures and much more. Here’s the highlights from the Tanya Nolan interview.

Tanya Nolan On…

Inception into Music:

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started singing at a young age, and my passion for music only grew from there. It’s been a journey filled with ups and downs, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

‘HONEY’:

“HONEY” is like a sweet melody that just came to me one night while I was reflecting on love and its complexities. It’s a fusion of personal experiences and imagination that came together in the studio, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out.

ArtsessionZ:

Releasing music under my record label, ArtsessionZ, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of my team. ArtsessionZ has provided me with the platform and resources to fully express myself as an artist and bring my musical vision to life. Collaborating with ArtsessionZ has been a seamless and fulfilling process, allowing me to explore new sounds and push the boundaries of my creativity. I’m grateful for the opportunity to release music under my own label, and I’m excited about the future projects we have in store. With ArtsessionZ, I’m confident that we’ll continue to make waves in the music industry and connect with listeners on a deeper level.

Tanya Nolan interviewInspiration for Songwriting:

Inspiration can come from anywhere – personal experiences, observations, emotions, or even just a random thought that pops into my head. I believe in being open to inspiration from all sources.

Musical Influences:

Growing up in Texas exposed me to a diverse range of musical styles, but some of my strongest influences include legends like Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, and Marvin Gaye.

Previous Selection, ‘LET’S CELEBRATE’:

“LET’S CELEBRATE” was such a fun project to work on. It’s a feel-good anthem that celebrates life and positivity. The inspiration came from wanting to create something that could uplift people’s spirits and get them dancing.

Purpose of Music:

I want my music to resonate with people on a personal level – to evoke emotions, inspire, and ultimately bring joy to their lives.

Dream Collaboration:

If I could collaborate with anyone, it would have to be Whitney Houston. Her voice was incomparable, and I would have loved the opportunity to learn from her.

Dream Venue:

Performing at Madison Square Garden has always been a dream of mine. The energy and history of that venue are unparalleled.

Key to Longevity:

Staying true to myself, evolving as an artist, and connecting with my audience are key to longevity in this industry.

Future Aspirations:

Outside of music, I’m passionate about philanthropy and giving back to my community. I hope to use my platform to make a positive impact in the world.

Interacting with Fans:

I love connecting with my fans, whether it’s through social media, meet-and-greets, or live performances. Their support means everything to me, and I always make an effort to show my appreciation.

Favorite and Least Favorite Part(s):

My favorite part of this line of work is the ability to express myself creatively and connect with people through music. My least favorite part would probably be the uncertainty and challenges that come with the industry.
