R&B singer Sparkle is back!  Back in 1998, she was under the musical influence of R. Kelly. She’s the voice behind the smash hit, “Be Careful” that spent six consecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot R&B Airplay charts. After being gone for than ten years, she’s returned ready to give her fans new music and I’m sure she will gain new fans as well. She’s beautiful, super talented and on the grind to take over radio all over again.

Parlé Magazine: Hi Sparkle! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview. How are you?
Sparkle:  I am wonderful and thanks for wanting to holla at me.

Parlé:
We haven’t seen you in about ten years. Can you tell us why you chose to take such a long break?
Sparle: Yes, it’s been a minute… I took a bit of a break dealing with family matters and trying to get my creative juices flowing again because they had indeed stopped.

Parlé: I’m sure you know the music industry’s changed a lot. Do you find it more difficult after your return? What are your thoughts on it?
Sparkle: It has changed.  Not only how music is consumed, but everybody thinks they’re a star now.  The internet is a good thing depending on how you measure success or failure.  For the independent artist, it allows access to a core fan base and people you normally wouldn’t have access to, and on the other hand,  as a major artist, it’s the very thing that prevents your records from selling to it’s potential!  Such a double-edged sword!

Parlé:
In 1998, your career was guided by R. Kelly. You introduced yourself with the smash hit, “Be Careful” that spent six consecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot R&B charts. What was that experience like for you?
Sparkle: It was a great experience that taught me sacrifice and discipline. “Be Careful” came out and introduced me as THAT GIRL; MYSTERIOUS in which I still smile about.

Parlé
:
I heard your remix to “Dirty Laundry,” why did you decide to record to that particular song?
Sparkle: The song felt like a Robert produced-Sparkle song.  It just felt right that I put my vocal on it and I happen to have a bit of my own Dirty Laundry that I need to air out, so I went for it.. But only a lil bit. (Laughs)…

Parlé:  Do you feel like there are some things you would like to clear up or would you rather tell your story through music?
Sparkle: Of course, there’s a lot of situation/issues (known and unknown) in which I can clear up things. I’ll do some through music along with other ways shortly.

Parlé: Let’s talk about your song that you’ve returned with, “So Bad.” I love your voice on the song. Your vocal skills are on point. How have your fans receive the song?
Sparkle: “So Bad” is my new joint and thank you for the compliment. I’m loving the response I’m getting from it. The fans are very supportive and are loving what I’m giving thus far.

Parlé: Do you have any idea of what single you’ll be releasing next?
Sparkle: Because I’m still in the studio recording, I keep coming up with great songs, so I’m not sure yet. But I’ll definitely keep you posted.

Parlé: You’re independent on DNA Entertainment. Is that accurate? Explain why you chose to go that route (independent)?
Sparkle: Yes, DNA is the house that’s bringing Sparkle back. I think a lot of my peers are going the indy route these days. You get to do what you want, how you want it, and when you want. It’s a lil bit harder and a longer road, but when you hit your stride, it’ll be well worth it. Not to say that I wouldn’t entertain a major, but it would have to be right.

Parlé: Are you working on an album? And when will you be going on tour?
Sparkle: As I mentioned, I am in the studio working on new music. Spot dates for shows are happening as we speak, so I’m sure I’ll be on tour after the album is officially wrapped!

Parlé: Is there anything else you would like for your fans to know about as far as what you’re working on?
Sparkle: Oh I wish I could say… I’m working on a few BIG things that I can’t speak on just yet, but I’ll hit you with the news soon.. really soon.

Parlé:  How can you be reached? Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Website, etc.
Sparkle: Hit me up at any of the social media networks, cause I try to holla back to everybody.
