Series 1: For My Sistahs: Let’s Get It Together
Hey sistahs, how are you feeling? I hope all is well. Since, we got the salutations out the way, I decided to dedicate this series to us!  Due to engaging in deep and meaningful conversations with some brothers I know, I decided to address some concerns that some brothers are having with us sistahs. I am concerned with some of our mentalities, behaviors, and attitudes towards the nice, sincere, loving brothers out there. Yes, ladies, these men do exist! Anyway, I keep hearing the same complaints over and over again. That’s why I decided to developed this series to see what is going on with us and address the growing issues and concerns that some of our brothers are having. Ladies, I understand that you all have growing issues and concerns about our dear brothers and yes I will develop a series about them, as well. Besides, I am an equal opportunist. LOL!
So let’s get ready to rumble!
Sistahs, I understand some of us have various responsibilities, such as being students, indulging in our careers, being single parents and etc. Is that a feasible excuse on why you don’t know how to cook nor clean? If you calculate the time, calories, and money you can save by cooking you will be amazed on how your savings account will increase. You don’t have to be on Emeril’s level but Rachel Ray does have 30 minutes meal tips that you can follow. It doesn’t hurt to take some culinary classes from your grandmother, mother, father, your girlfriend who know how to cook, or through trial and error so you can learn. Practice does make perfect! Personally, I am blessed because I learned how to cook and clean from my father, mother, and stepfather. My parents instilled these domesticated skills at a young age because they wanted to equip me to be self-sufficient. Also, I love to come home to a clean house with fresh linen on the bed with sweet aromas circulating the air. On the flip side, I can imagine those who just don’t know how to boil water or turn on the oven (no pun intended) but don’t use that as an excuse sistahs.  Grocery stores have a variety of meals in which you can microwave or take out the bag and place in the skillet for ten minutes. Some of you ladies think being domesticated is outdated and old-fashioned, but due to contrary belief, it is needed unless you don’t care about cleanliness.  Don’t complain when you look up and realize you are single, hungry, and your house is a mess. “If your house is a mess, your life is a mess.” With that being said, let’s get it together sistahs!
Ok ladies, it’s human nature to be indecisive from time to time. At times, we may not be capable of making rational decisions when our emotions dictate certain situations. As we mature and grow, our choices and preference change, hopefully for the better. Growth is a great process but NEVER settle for anyone or anything that can stunt your growth and inner being. Ladies we can’t put a price tag nor negotiate our worth because it is priceless and limitless. Sometimes we settle because we are competing with others, we don’t want to be single, and we feel we are missing something from our lives. I hate to break it to you but a man doesn’t complete you, God and you complete you. A man should add positivity to your life not complete you. So, I propose a question ladies, what type of man do you NEED not WANT. Needing and wanting are two separate entities. A need is a necessity and a want is a desire. For example, I need a strong, secure, mature, patient man. Vs. I want a man like Trey Songz because he is handsome. You see the difference?
I know some women who want that lawyer, physician, professional athlete with thug qualities! Really? I would like to meet this type of man because I don’t believe he exists. I guess a man who is assertive, gentle, loving, romantic, caring, and patient with your non cooking/cleaning behind is too soft? I rather take a man with these qualities over “thug” qualities any given day. Life is too short to deal with drama, negativity, abuse, gunshot wounds, and heartache. But some sistahs feel that they are not capable of being in a healthy, loving, stable, and secure relationship. Some of us have been abused, mistreated, and used to the point, in which we feel that being in an unhealthy, cold, unstable, and insecure relationship is acceptable because of ignorance and damaged self-esteem of one. This type of relationship is unacceptable and unhealthy. Ladies love should not hurt and we are all beautiful because God created us in his imagine. Life is just simply amazing.
Stay tuned for Series 2: For My Sistahs
