Saweetie Making Guest Appearance in ‘Bel-Air’ Season 2

Rapper Saweetie is set to appear as a guest star in the second season of the hit Peacock drama Bel-Air, which returns this February.

According to Variety, the Bay Area lyricist will appear as herself in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air-inspired series, but it was not specified how many episodes she will be included in.

Based on the viral short film director Morgan Cooper released in 2019, Bel-Air is a contemporary drama focusing on the complicated journey of the show’s lead Will (portrayed Jabari Banks) from the rough streets of West Philadelphia into the lap of luxury in California’s famed Bel-Air.

With executive production coming from Will Smith himself and original show’s heavy-hitters, such as Quincy Jones and Benny Medina, the goal for Bel-Air is to “dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions, and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format.”

While Saweetie will be playing herself on Bel-Air, she comes to TV phenomenon with previous acting experience. She made her acting debut on ABC’s Grown-ish in 2021, playing a bossy rhymer named Indigo.

Following the release of her latest endeavor, The Single Life, the 29-year-old stopped by The Bootleg Kev Podcast and addressed that, along with double standards, her McDonald’s collaboration, and all the “Queen” titles she’s been receiving. Unlike other artists who would gladly take the crown, Saweetie would rather not accept it and continue working on her craft. She doesn’t like when people self-proclaim or adopt a title on their own.

“I don’t want to self-proclaim the ‘Queen statement,’ but when I’m in certain cities or certain areas, they’ll just call me this and call me that,” Saweetie said. “I’ve been called the ‘Queen of California’ and many queen things, but I don’t think it’s something I’m trying to title, that’s why I had another voice say it on my [‘Single Life’] project. I don’t like it when people self-proclaim.”
