It has been reported that rapper B.G. has been denied a compassionate release from prison for a third time.

As reported by VladTV, a U.S. District Judge opted not to allow rapper B.G. of the New Orleans based rap group Hot Boys, to get a reduction on his 14-year-prison term. It took the judge three days to reject the motion, which was written and submitted by another federal prisoner on B.G.’s behalf.

A compassionate release is a process by which inmates in criminal justice systems may be eligible for immediate early release on grounds of “particularly extraordinary or compelling circumstances which could not reasonably have been foreseen by the court at the time of sentencing”.

The motion filed on B.G.’s behalf was entitled “The Court Misconstrued Defendant’s Motion,” and it focused on the motion B.G., whose born name is Christopher Noel Dorsey, submitted last year asking for his sentence to be reduced.

The latest filing argued the 2021 letter wasn’t intended to be a legal motion, but rather an attempt to raise awareness about B.G.’s displeasure with how his attorney handled a prior compassionate release motion.

The letter encouraged the court to reconsider him for a compassionate release and asked for the 2021 denial not to be held against him in which he stated his dissatisfaction in his former attorney for “incompetence” and challenged prosecutors’ attempts to “paint him as a violent individual due to his rap lyrics.” Instead, he asked to focus on his health issues that left him at risk of contracting COVID-19.

U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan, who in her reply said that B.G. “has offered no new evidence that would affect the Court’s prior decision.”

Judge Morgan already rejected a previous compassionate release petition that included support letters from Birdman, Slim, Wendy Day and Gary “The Glove” Payton Sr. earlier this year.

Cash Money Records Co-Founder Birdman posted an Instagram update about B.G.’s situation earlier this month and claimed he’d “be home in a minute,”. As of today, September 30, 2022, Birdman has removed all posts from his Instagram account and leaves only a selfie of B.G. from the inside prison with the caption: 2023 @new_bghollyhood CHOPPA CITY RICHGANG 🦅💚

B.G. was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison in connection with guns found during a traffic stop in eastern New Orleans over 10 years ago. Prosecutors added a witness tampering charge after his 2009 arrest, claiming B.G. pressured two other passengers to take the blame for the weapons.

B.G. is currently incarcerated in FCI Herlong medium security prison in California with a scheduled release date of April 7, 2024. In the meantime, new posts frequently get added to the rapper’s Instagram account @new_bghollywood, along with info on how to write him. FREE B.G.
