The legacy of Pimp C, including his music and work as a member of UGK, will never be forgotten. Plenty of rappers have had their legacy and achievements archived at prestigious universities. Legendary Hip-Hop producer 9th Wonder was recently chosen to curate Harvard University’s We Are the Breaks project, and will archive nearly 200 Hip-Hop albums into their library.

Now it’s the Underground King’s turn. Paraphernalia along with other documents and artifacts from Chad Lamont “Pimp C” Butler’s life are going to be archived at the Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning’s Hip-Hop Archive in the Woodson Library at Rice University in Houston, Texas. It only seems fitting that it would be a university in Texas.

There is also going to be a panel discussion at Rice University on Tuesday, January 31st, where Pimp C will be remembered. Speaking at this panel will be Pimp C’s wife Chinara Butler, UGK member and friend Bun B, David Banner, Swishahouse Records founder DJ Michael “5000” Watts, as well as many others. Pimp C: A Trill Legacy is going to be a free event to the public, running from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. You can RSVP at here.

The documents that are going to be included in the Woodson Library will feature hand-written lyrics, a Grammy nomination, as well as the joint venture deal with Universal Music Group.
