The Importance of Seeing Things and People for What They Really Are

The year 2020 represents so many things, but for me, it means stepping into the new year with perfect vision.

This is a brand new decade that we’re stepping into. With new times come new things. Transformations. Transitions. Leaving old habits, people, and relationships where they need to be left… because 2020 is all about letting go any and everything that weighs you down and stunts your growth.

You don’t like me? I don’t care! You don’t want to be my friend? I don’t care! You want to unfriend me on social media? I don’t give a damn! Bye-bye to the folks who mean me no good. I’m on to bigger and better things. I can’t go into a new phase of my life boggled down by old issues. Who needs that type of negativity anyway? I know I don’t, and you don’t either.

I implore all of you reading this article to create a vision for yourself in the new year. Speak it into existence. Plan it. Manifest it. Stay on top of it. And, if you need some motivation, don’t hesitate to drop a comment or two. It’s pertinent to make this new year, this new decade, a great one!

Why? Because 2020 represents the year of newness. Yes, it’s a real word. LOL. Transitioning and transforming into a better form of yourself is always a good thing. Who doesn’t want to be better than they were before? I know I do, and you should too.

Write down that business plan. Plan out that family vacation. Take a leap of faith. Break those toxic relationships. Get your passport. Travel somewhere new. Get a table at that event you’ve been wanting to attend. Do all the things you want to do in the new year!

Time waits for no one and you don’t want to let life pass you by regretting anything.

I’ve learned to surround myself with people who are ahead of me in life. That’s not meant in a negative way either. I’ve surrounded myself with successful women who are successful in more than one way. They are women I admire, love, or aspire to be in one form or another. When you want different, you do different things. These women around me are so amazing, and I love everything they’ve given to my life.

I once read an article that said if I wanted to be a millionaire, I had to surround myself with millionaires. Well, I don’t know any millionaires, but I do know some women and men who are about their business so I stay around them soaking everything in. You never know what you can learn from the next person and I’m always in a learning position. Hell, being in a learning position put me in the career field I’ve always wanted to be in now.

I love what I do and with whom I do it. My love for children, helping them grow, be better versions of themselves and guiding them to brighter paths in so enlightening to me. Ask the kids I work with every single day and they’ll tell you different stories of who I am. Teacher. Mentor. Friend. Mother. Entrepreneur. And I love every bit of it.

So, my vision for myself for 2020 is being a better version of myself. Not just for me, but for the people and children who see me regularly and even the ones who don’t. The way my heart is set up, if I could help make a change with everybody I come in contact with, I’d do it.

What is your vision for 2020?

Marina J

Starting her writing journey in 2014, Marina was introduced to the literary world by two names: Divine Six and Marina J.  With two very creative and unique writing styles, she became a fast known name in the industry. After taking a two-year hiatus from 2016-2018, Marina came back harder than ever with her book, The Devil Wears Dog Tags, which was based on a true story. Chronicled from her days as a military wife, Marina J bore her soul.  In 2019, with 18 books to her name to date, Marina opened her first business, Trap House Books, as an avenue to sell her books as well as other authors’ books. In the latter part of 2019, she opened another business, The Trap House Signature: Chicago, an online retail store.  Learning to create is the best thing about writing books and starting businesses. You never know what you’ll learn. Both of Marina’s businesses are co-owned by her six children. Her daughters are co-owners to the book store and her sons are co-owners to the retail store.  Hoping to expand her brand as a storyteller and potential game-changer, Marina has now delved into Journalism/Media. Along with being an author and entrepreneur, she currently serves as an intern for Parlé Magazine. “I’m teaching my children that they can do anything, by turning a dream into a legacy...” - Marina J
