Amid the coronavirus madness, we’re moving into another week of #quarantineandchill and #socialdistancing. As expected, Trump has extended the stay-inside order for another thirty days, which means that there is no sign of being free anytime soon. Bring on the Netflix and wine! Heavy on the wine.

With so much time our hands, it is the perfect moment to catch up on all of the shows that have been sweeping through social media lately. Don’t know where to start? We got you! Grab the snacks and drinks, and tweet us your thoughts while you make your way through the list.

Here are ten series you should absolutely be binge-watching on Netflix!

  1. Love Is Blind

You already know, Love Is Blind is the first one. LIB is a new kind of social experiment in which roughly 40 men and women went on blind dates until they met “the one.” The plot twist? They got engaged before ever even seeing each other!

This is basically like Catfish on steroids because, during the ten-day dating phase, the couples had no idea about the others’ physical attributes, race, features, etc. Talk about having a smooth talk game. If you’re a sucker for romance and drama, look no further.

2. Good Girls

Good Girls isn’t a new series, but it’s new to some and truly worth the binge. This makes the list because we all stan Black queens being leading ladies, in which one of the main characters played by actress Retta is absolutely phenomenal in this role.

The show is about three mothers who are all at a crossroads in their personal lives and decide to rob a grocery store. Little did they know, this was only the beginning of a downward slope that would test relationships and catapulting murders, affairs, and kidnapping. Side note: season 3 is also available on Hulu!

3. Tiger King

Hold on to your edges because Tiger King is a RIDE! The show’s full title, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is EXACTLY that, and we truly don’t even know where to start with giving a synopsis of this seven-episode series. What was supposed to be a show about large cats as pets turned into chronicling the dealings of an exotic cat dealer, Joe Exotic, and his simultaneous marriages to men.

The currently-incarcerated Joe also ran as governor of Oklahoma in hopes of becoming American’s first gay, redneck, and polyamorous president. And who can forget his enemy, Carol, who is rumored to have fed her rich husband to her tigers after he mysteriously vanished years ago. You aren’t going to be able to peel your eyes from the screen.

4. All American

Remember when we told you about All American back in 2018? If you didn’t believe us then, you should now. The show, originally airing on CW is currently trending this week on Netflix, and you need to get into it.

A mix of old school Degrassi and Friday Night Lights, All American is inspired by the life of former New York Giants linebacker Spencer Paysinger. The powerful drama immerses us in the world of high school football, and determination while pivoting through two considerably different cultural lifestyles.

5. Unsolved

We’ve all heard the rumors and speculations surrounding the deaths of Hip-Hop legendaries Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. Unsolved brings the heat by unpacking the “truth” with the dramatization of the investigations of each of these murders.

6. You

There are two kinds of people in this world: people like you and people like Joe from Netflix’s You. This talked-about series is a psychological thriller that definitely gives off the psycho and the thrill.

Based in New York, the nail-biting drama follows bookstore manager by day and a stalker by night, Joe Goldberg. Upon meeting the girl of his dreams, Guinevere Beck, Joe grows a deep, dark obsession with the aspiring writer, and he sees to it that his fantasized romance becomes a reality.

As obstacles prevail, Joe proves that he’ll go through any hurdle to get to the woman he says he loves–even if it means resorting to violence. When things take a turn for the worse, you’d think that Joe would want to do better. However, three seasons later, we realize that we were all sadly mistaken. Whatever you do, just don’t be like Joe.

7. On My Block

Netflix

Things are certainly getting real on this block… and they have been for a while. On My Block centers the lives of four teens from a hard-knock neighborhood in Los Angeles.

Entering high school isn’t easy, especially in this City of Devils. As friendships are tested and dangers arise, will the relationships between these individuals be strong enough to pull them through?

This is one coming-of-age story that everyone needs to see.

8. Black Lightning

Netflix

If you’re into superheroes, you’ll love Black Lightning. Based on the famed DC Comics character of the same name, the Cress Williams-led sci-fi focuses on high school principal Jefferson Pierce, as he reprises his Black Lightning persona.

When crime strikes in his community, Freeland, Jefferson is forced to become a vigilante again, making it his mention to drive out the corruption that the gangs are causing.

It’s been nine years since Jefferson retired his double life as Black Lightning, but when you mess with someone or something he loves, he won’t hesitate to pick back up the uniform.

9. Ozark

Netflix

A lot of you have probably been sleeping on Ozark, but it’s time to wake up!

In this mouth-dropping series, veteran actor Jason Bateman portrays financial advisor Martin “Marty” Byrde. After a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, Martin packs up his family and relocates from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois to Osage Beach, Missouri.

Why Osage Beach? Well, as a result of the failed plan, he sets out to get back into a Mexican drug cartel’s good graces by constructing a bigger laundering operation in the Ozarks.

Little did Martin know, he was in for more trouble.

10. 13 Reasons Why

Netflix

There are so many reasons why 13 Reasons Why (TH1RTEEN R3ASONS WHY) is a must-watch and will go down as a modern-day classic.

Adapted from the 2007 young-adult novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, the series captures high schooler Clay Jensen in his quest to unravel the sudden death of his classmate-turned-crush, Hannah Baker, after she commits suicide.

Covering a wide variety of topics, such as depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues, the Netflix show is sure to tap into each and every viewer’s emotions.
