Imagine your child being kidnapped and you don’t know where to start but you have a parent’s intuition. Survival becomes second-nature and the redemption of your child is the only thing on your mind. Bishop T.D. Jakes has released the sequel to his film Woman Thou Art Loosed. Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day speaks about the scenario above and it questions beliefs and puts people in a predicament that no one wants to be. Starring Blair Underwood and Sharon Leal, with the direction of Neema Barnette, the film is bound to strike a couple of chords with the audience.
The plot of the film centers around the Ames family, who have made the perfect life for themselves until their six-year-old daughter is kidnapped and they are faced with a dire situation. Using a serial killer plot line director Neema Barnette explains the change, “The initial script the character was a predator but after reworking and re-writing we decided on a serial killer because from research most of them use the Bible and God to justify what they do.” The family is forced to confront the truth as their life spirals out of control in the search of their missing daughter. Director Neema Barnette took a biblical approach to the film to implement the use of the first seven days of creation. She also expressed using profanity in a faith-based film was a difficult choice but to make it feel realistic the use was needed. Lead actress Sharon Leal expressed her thoughts on the topic. “Blair and I wanted to push the envelope to show when people are pushed and faced with adversity. It was one of those conversations we had to sit down and have because of the limitations of a faith-based film.”
The film touches on subjects that the audience can relate to and the ultimate moral of the film is to not give up faith. “One of the initial themes expressed by Bishop Jakes was the use of the missing child and it was very important for us to that it can happen to anyone.” Barnette chimed in. Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day releases everywhere on April 13th.
