Michel’le Brings Her Story To Life On Screen With Surviving Compton Lifetime Biopic

Well, it looks like Lifetime has done it, once again. From Grammy award-winner Whitney Houston to Toni Braxton, and even Aaliyah, the network thrives on giving us the untold stories of many generational singers and significant actors and actresses in the industry today. R&B songbird, Michel’le, happens to be next on the roster with her Surviving Compton biopic.

With her hit 90’s singles, “No More Lies” and “Something In My Heart”, Michel’le quickly rose to stardom during the 80’s/90’s era. But, aside from the music, her personal life and romantic ties often became an interest of many around the world.

Earlier this year, the news broke that a Lifetime biopic was in production for the singer. The news brought about a great amount of buzz, leaving fans anxiously awaiting the highly anticipated project.

The film is set to premiere in October of this year, and follows Michel’le’s journey, through her days as a first lady and artist of Eazy E’s record label, Ruthless Records. However, although the South Central native is known for her alluring vocal skills and stage presence, the film also focuses on her life beyond the microphone.

Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, & Me will not only take the audience behind the scenes of the singer’s musical career but it will also display the trials and tribulations during her troublesome past relationships with Hip-Hop moguls, Dr. Dre and Suge Knight.

According to Billboard, the film is partnered with Sony Pictures and ThinkFactory Media. Lincoln Heights actress, Rhyon Nicole Brown, will be portraying the leading role of Michel’le, along with R. Marcos Taylor (Straight Outta Compton) reprising as Suge Knight, and Scream’s Jamie Kennedy as N.W.A.’s manager, Jerry Heller. Newcomer, Curtis Hamilton gets a breakout role as Dr. Dre.
