I’m an avid fan of Hip-Hop films like Belly and Next Day air, so when I got my copy of King of Paper Chasing, I was excited to see what the film had in store. I missed a couple NYC screenings some months back, but now that its out on DVD, I was able to watch it from the comfort of my own home.
Being a fan of Hip-Hop films doesn’t mean the film should be straight hood and thankfully Paper Chasing doesn’t suffer from that setback. For a movie written by a first time screen writer, with a cast pretty much full of new faces, the movie is quite impressive. Written, produced and starring _, King of Paper Chasing is the story of _ aka Cart Blanche. He’s a “businessman” who happens to Rap, but he’s got plenty ties to the streets and has to deal with those as he tries to make his way to the top of the Rap game.
For the most part the writing and content from this novice is surprisingly impressive.  The twists keep you captivated throughout the two hour movie and it plays out well, aqll things considered. The only complaint would go to some of the secondary cast members.  This movie was shot in just 26 days with a tight budget but it feels as though they had more to work with… Until one of those secondary cast members pops into a scene and reminds the viewer what they’re watching. Knowing what the director had to work with its to be commended that the quality was still so high, but you’re not thinking about that while you’re watching the film.
Still, the poor acting aside I would recommend the film based on the story line alone. Hip-Hop aficionados will love it and movie lovers will appreciate the great debut effort.

Dwayne Clark's King of Paper Chasin'

I’m an avid fan of Hip-Hop films like Belly and Next Day Air, so when I got my copy of Dwayne Clark’s King of Paper Chasin’, I was excited to see what the film had in store for this King of Paper Chasin’ movie review. I missed a couple of NYC screenings some months back, but now that it’s out on DVD, I was able to watch it from the comfort of my own home.

Being a fan of Hip-Hop films doesn’t mean the film should be straight hood and thankfully Paper Chasin’ doesn’t suffer from that setback. For a movie written by a first-time screenwriter with a cast pretty much full of new faces, the movie is quite impressive. Written, produced, and starring Dwayne “DL” Clark, King of Paper Chasin’ is the story of Carter Blanche. Carter Blanche of KOPC is a “businessman” who happens to Rap, but he’s got plenty of ties to the streets. Carter Blanche of KOPC has to deal with those as he tries to make his way to the top of the Rap game.

For the most part, the writing and content from this novice are surprisingly impressive. Dwayne Clark’s King of Paper Chasin’ has twists that will keep you captivated throughout the two-hour movie and it plays out well, all things considered. The only complaint would go to some of the secondary cast members that support Carter Blanche of KOPC.  This movie was shot in just 26 days with a tight budget but it feels as though they had more to work with… Until one of those secondary cast members pops into a scene and reminds the viewer what they’re watching. They all have minor roles so that helps.  Knowing what the director had to work with, it’s to be commended that the quality was still so high, but you’re not thinking about that while you’re watching the film.

Still, the poor acting aside, my King of Paper Chasin’ movie review recommends the film based on the storyline alone. Hip-Hop aficionados will love it and movie lovers will appreciate the great debut effort.
