After going “missing,” Greenberg Traurig, LLP tried for months to get in touch with their client, Kanye West, in order to inform him that they were dropping him as a client. Well, the Where’s Waldo hunt is finally over. The NYC-based law firm has served the “Closed On Sunday” rapper detachment papers. On Wednesday (Feb. 1), Yeezy‘s new legal representation verified his client was delivered the required paperwork to lop their business relationship.

Nina D. Boyajian, a lawyer at Greenberg Traurig, penned in the document: “On January 18, 2023, an attorney based in California contacted my firm advising that he would be representing ‘Ye on some of his legal matters. During the course of several emails and a phone call with this attorney, I requested that he coordinate personal service of the Order on Ye. On February 1, 2023, the attorney referenced above emailed me the executed Certificate of Service attached hereto as Exhibit A. I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the foregoing is true and correct.”

The prestigious law firm has went to great lengths to serve Kanye West with the separation papers. In January 2022, Greenberg Traurig sought permission from a judge as to whether they were able to place an advertisement in several local newspapers. Following that, United States District Judge Analisa Torres ruled the law firm faltered as far as making “diligent efforts” to find the “I Wonder” hit maker. Thus, Torres rejected the law firm’s petition. As an alternative, the U.S. District Judge proposed that Greenberg Traurig have a private investigator track down Ye.

Torres gave the law firm an extension, which evidently Greenberg Traurig took full advantage of. On November 30, 2022, the U.S. District Judge granted the law firm’s motion to drop Kanye West as a client. The Grammy Award winning producer originally hired Greenberg Traurig to represent him in his judicial skirmish against Ultra International Music Publishing. West has yet to comment about being served disassociation papers by Greenberg Traurig.
