Kanye West and Jay Z Feud Continues, West Leaves Tidal Over Massive Business Dispute

Well, it seems that the friendship between Kanye West and Jay Z isn’t getting patched up anytime soon. The Life of Pablo rapper has allegedly parted ways with Tidal, a subscription-based music streaming service, owned by Jay Z. West, who served as a co-owner and shareholder of Tidal, is reportedly calling it quits due to the company owing him over three million dollars.

West says that his The Life of Pablo album brought 1.5 million subscribers to the Tidal platform–in which he was supposed to get compensated for. It was also in agreement that they would reimburse him for his music videos. However, Tidal failed to uphold both ends of the bargain.

While West is wanting out of his contract, completely, the folks over at the Tidal headquarters are not letting that happen. In fact, they are under the impression that there is still a contract with the rapper and are threatening to sue if he signs with another streaming service.

We’re hoping that West and the Tidal team can all come to a fair resolution. Things between Kanye West and Jay Z haven’t been the best since West’s onstage rant about Jay Z, at his Saint Pablo Tour Seattle concert stop, last year.

The 40-year-old’s beef with ‘Mr. Carter’ stems from the Brooklyn lyricist opting not to be featured on the album version of Drake’s “Pop Style” track from his 2016 Views album. West claims that Jay Z kicked against it out of respect for Meek Mill, but it later turned into some ‘political sh*t’ between Tidal and Apple Music–which also resulted in West not appearing on it either.

West was obviously highly upset by that because during his concert rant, in Seattle, he even went as far as to say that there wouldn’t be a sequel to his 2011 collaborative album with Jay Z, Watch The Throne.

“Let me tell y’all something,” West told the crowd. “There will never be a Watch the Throne 2. You know why? Because that’s the reason why I wasn’t on the song [“Pop Style”]. I wasn’t on the song because of Hov, because of some Tidal/Apple bullsh*t. This shit gets me tight every time I perform this motherf*cker.”

He then went on to explain how he thought that the track would be something great for the fans but became frustrated by the drama surrounding it.

“Jay thought of a couple lines. I said, ‘Man, just go ahead and throw that on there. They’ll be so surprised. [Drake] probably wouldn’t expect you to be on there,” he expressed. “[Drake] was like, ‘Oh sh*t! The Throne is on this sh*t!’ Then, Jay thought about it and, out of respect for Meek Mill, he ain’t want to be on the track. And I said, ‘Look, I’ll call Drake, I’ll call Meek, I’ll call y’all. We gotta let people have this song!’ But then it went out of that territory and it went into some Tidal s**t, some political sh*t, some sh*t about percentages on songs. I can’t take this sh*t, bro!”

Later, in the set, he also brought up his disappointment in Jay Z and Beyoncé’s failure to appear in person, to check on her, after his wife, Kim Kardashian-West, went through her robbery incident.

As if it shouldn’t have ended there, he went into another rant, at a different show, stating that he was hurt because he had been told that Beyoncé said that she wouldn’t perform at last year’s MTV’s Video Music Awards unless she won ‘Video Of The Year’ over West, himself, and Drake’s “Hotline Bling”. Did Queen Bey really say that? Well, we’ll never know, for sure.

But, what we do know is that Jay Z didn’t take so kindly to ‘Ye mentioning his beloved wife.

To make matters worse, Jay Z sent the internet into complete shambles with the recent release of his thirteenth studio album, 4:44. Aside from admitting to cheating on Beyoncé with ‘Becky with the good hair’ and opening up about his mother being a lesbian, Jay Z also had a few words for Kanye West on his opening track, “Kill Jay Z”.

“I know people backstab you; I felt that too. But, this ‘f*ck everybody attitude’ ain’t natural. But, you ain’t the same; this ain’t Kumba ‘Ye. But, you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye. You give him twenty million without blinking. He gave you twenty minutes on stage–f*ck what was he thinking? ‘F*ck wrong with everybody?’ is what you saying. But, if everyone is crazy, you’re the one that’s insane.” He raps, referring to the twenty million advance that Roc Nation distributed to West for his last tour.

The lyrics shook not only West but, also, Kim K. Sources say that she feels as though the lyrics were an attack on ‘Ye, reportedly stating that ‘it was a low blow to diss West and throw words around like ‘insane’ after all that he’s been through.’

Kanye West and Jay Z had been friends for a pretty good while before this. So, we’re hoping that the two wouldn’t throw away years of friendship over business disputes and miscommunication. However, it seems that more fuel has been added to the fire.
