Judge Not Letting Meek Mill Bail Out Even After Support From DA

Meek Mill Bail Request Denied

The losses continue to pile up for Meek Mill. On Thursday (April 5), the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to the state Supreme Court that said it would be okay for Meek Mill to be released on bail. That request was denied by Judge Genece Brinkley.

Meek Mill, whose government name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, has been in jail since November 2017 for violation of probation. This came after he was arrested twice last year, once in March for an altercation at a St. Louis airport, and another in August for reckless driving in New York. Both cases were later dropped but the judge gave no sympathy towards the rapper. The judge determining both acts as violation of probation immediately sentenced him to 2 – 4 years in prison.

The probation roots from a 2008 drug conviction the rapper was found guilty for.

Attorneys working with Meek Mill have made several attempts to get the rapper released from prison, accusing Judge Brinkley of being biased and having a personal vendetta for the 30-year-old black man.

In a written statement, Judge Brinkley wrote that it was “absolutely necessary” that the dreamchaser be sent back to prison.

Since being imprisoned, fans and supporters of Meek Mill have been furious at Judge Genece Brinkley decision to keep him locked up. Sparking a #FreeMeekMill movement nationwide, which not only benefits Meek but other people who received the same faith as him. Even Jay-z penned a editorial in The New York Times criticizing the Criminal Justice System that target people like Meek.

In a recent interview from Tidal’s Rap Radar podcast, guest Wale said that his MMG associate is in good spirits while being locked up. Wale goes on to say Meek Mill was inspiration for his recent EP, It’s Complicated. I guess Meek Mill knows when you lose often eventually you start to win.
