Ice-T Explains Why L.A. Rappers Often Skip Wearing Jewelry

The Hip-Hop world is still mourning the unfortunate death of Philadelphia rapper, PnB Rock who passed away on Monday, September 12 after he was fatally shot during a robbery attempt at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Central, Los Angeles. While Tekashi 6ix9ine seemingly mocked the death, several other rappers like Nicki Minaj and Kodak Black have taken to social media to put a piece of their thoughts and feelings into writing. Still in the wake of PnB Rock’s death on Twitter, Ice-T came out on Wednesday to buttress an earlier tweet that is seemingly connected to PnB’s death. In the series of tweets, Ice-T explained why the likes of Kendrick Lamar and other L.A. rappers skip wearing jewelry.

“People are still hitting me up about my comments about LA Gang culture,” the actor-rapper tweeted on Wednesday. “If you NOTICE, LA rappers don’t wear a lotta Jewelry… Me, Snoop, Cube, Dre, Game, Kendrick.. The list goes on.. It’s not cause we’re broke. LA is just a Dangerous place, rapper or not. Why test the streets.”

The rapper turned actor asserted in the earlier tweet that seems to have triggered the questions from people that he was “done explaining LA Gang culture.” He continued in the tweet, “…MFs will not listen. It’s not a game.. At all.”

A couple of fans challenged Ice-T’s claim. One posted a picture of the rapper with his chains well flaunted around his neck with the caption, “Really ?”

“Thats on certain occasions when you’re ready for whatever.” the rapper replied a few minutes after the post. “I have Big Jewelry too… But you don’t wake up EVERYDAY and put it on to go down the block.. As I said before… Challenge the hood, somebody’s gonna catch that Fade.”

“Acting like we ain’t never seen a Death Row Records chain,” another person said, to which the rapper pointed out what brought about 2Pac’s death to make his argument.

“Yep, And PAC’s death was connected to the snatching of one of those chains.. You can deny what I’m trying to tell you if you want. I’m done explaining,” Ice-T replied.
