'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' May Be Getting A Reboot, Led By A Female

A ‘Fresh Princess of Bel-Air’ Series Is Currently in the Works…

Well, it looks like there may be a ‘Fresh Princess’ coming to Bel-Air soon. According to TMZ, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is currently being prepped for a potential reboot… but, this time, it could actually be a female at the forefront of it.

Allegedly, the company that owns the rights to ‘Fresh Prince’ recently filed a couple of trademark applications in seek of locking down rights to ‘Fresh Princess’.

If granted, the phrase would be used for a television project and “virtually every other media platform.”

Additionally, they are rumored to be petitioning to trademark ‘Fresh Princess’ on a plethora of merchandise, including backpacks, clothing, and even footwear.

Originally a male-led series–starring Will Smith, there is no word on if any of the original cast members will participate.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired from 1990 to 1996 on NBC, which also starred James Avery, Janet Hubert, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Joseph Marcell. Daphne Maxwell Reid (replacing Hubert’s character as ‘Aunt Viv’) and Ross Bagley later joined the roster.
