More than watching the throne, I definitely had my eye on it. Synonomous with all things of grandeur, what I saw last night was success, progress, and if nothing else the power of artistry and creativity. There was a point in the show, when performing H to the izzo, after the line “I’m raping Def Jam till I’m the 100 million man” when Hov remarked “I told you so”; It was at that point that I had to agree.
As a fan I remember the hits, as I student I always paid attention to the Blueprint; more than an album, it became a series; more than a series it served as the ideal map. As the result of a meteoric rise, the marketing plan was a lifestyle, one that would be able to be turned from negative into positivity. Yes a lot of dollar signs were involved, but let us not forget that pride we find in a yankee hat that was made famous as only he can, let us not forget the lanes that were opened as he bought substance and reasons; reasons why he will forever be remembered as the true G.O.A.T. No disrespect to Mr Smith but hands down the numbers done lie. Look beyond the portfolio into the stands of the sold out Izod Center. 15K plus fans whom rocked and repeated bar for bar 3 hours strong.
Rick Ross said it best, “a boss is one who guarantees we gone eat”. I like to take it a step forward and say that a boss is one who opens the lane for others to make their own plate. Who has done it better than Hov? If you need a justification for that, there is none greater than the example of the heights that the brand Roc-A-Fella has soared; in more recent times on the back of its biggest star at the moment, Kanye West. Mr everything I like to call him, from music mogul to fashion icon, to overall media giant. There is not a thing that Ye does that is not news. From everything that is G.O.O.D about music, to everything that we wish we had the opportunity or courage to accomplish or say in life
Leather skirt clad, with only the most of fashionable threads, donned like no other couled except for maybe Lil Wayne, ye ran through the gamut of his classics, everything from “Can’t tell me Nothing” to “Gold digger” before getting the greatest of advice from Hov to as the two exchanged hit after hit. Young reminded him that there can @ times in this life be “99 problems, but a chick aint one”
Ye rocked the crowd with an ode to true love; the kind that consumes you to the point that you may ask the question why hasn’t one ran away after losing their soul to someone so heartless. Maybe it was the affect of the flashing lights that makes you stronger. I don’t know.
As I sat with a birds eye view of THE THRONE, I cannot lie at times I caught myself doing a little more watching than anything. Its such an inspiring thing when in the company of greatness. Miles away from the Hard knock life, I sat and observed the guy who reminded us all where he came from, with his New York State of Mind, partnered with the Louis Vuitton Don; the two of them, throne in tact, epitomizing the fact that diamonds are indeed, FOREVER.
