That's Tasty! Creamy Shrimp and Garlic Recipe

There is a beautiful aroma that fills the kitchen when fresh garlic is slowly being cooked. When you add plump juicy shrimp, spices, herbs and cream, you have a delicious combination of flavors that warms your soul. The versatility of shrimp ranges from deep frying, poaching, grilling, and salads and beyond. I like using shrimp because it cooks quickly and is loved by so many. This simple and quick recipe prepares in minutes and tastes like it took hours. We are so busy with our daily lives that when we do cook at home it becomes one meal, an entrée. Try to slow down and treat someone special to a three or two course meal. Start with this creamy shrimp and garlic recipe and put a smile on someone’s face.

Creamy Shrimp and Garlic Recipe

1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3-4 large Garlic Cloves; peeled and sliced thin
½ pound Raw Large Shrimp ( 21/25 count)
1 Tablespoon ground Cayenne Pepper
½ Cup Heavy Cream
½ Tablespoon un-salted butter
Salt and Pepper to Taste
½ Cup Ruff chopped Cilantro
Method:
1. If shrimp are not peeled, peel. Carefully insert a knife at the top of the shrimp on the back where the head would be. Cut straight down to the end of the tail where the vein is. Remove vein, but do not cut shrimp in half. You are widening “Butter flying” the shrimp so when cooked, it will appear larger. Set aside.
2. Heat a sauté pan on low and add oil.
3. Add the thinly sliced garlic and cook for a minute, do not brown garlic. It should be opaque.
4. Add shrimp and stir.
5. When shrimp starts to turn pink, add cayenne pepper and stir.
6. Add heavy cream, salt and pepper and raise flame.
7. When cream reduces by half, remove from flame, stir in butter and toss in chopped cilantro.

Cooking notes: Although a different oil may be used, I love Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The garlic should be thinly sliced, not chopped. The cilantro should be cleaned and ruff chopped. Anytime you cut, chop, change oil, use something other than butter you will change the texture and taste of any dish. It is ultimately up to you and your taste. Have fun Cooking!
