Brandon Rossi Gets Closer To His Dreams With New Single And Feature On T.I. EP

Having already landed a lucrative deal with Roc Nation, rapper-singer-songwriter-producer Brandon Rossi is now taking center stage.  As evidenced by his latest offering, “Miss Me”, Brandon has innate talents and a bright future in this industry.  His recent feature on T.I.’s “40 Acres” track with Killer Mike is just another step in the right direction.

We caught up with Brandon for an interview on music, influences and his Roc Nation come up.  Check out the interview below.

Parlé Mag:
Tell me  about your whole inception into music.  When did you first become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for you?
Brandon Rossi:  I watched The Wiz, (and) it made me want to play instruments. So, I started out on drums.

Parlé Mag:
Your from Georgia, growing up there, who all did/do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?
Brandon Rossi:  I’m a native of Decatur, Georgia. My influences were from Marvin Gaye to B.I.G, to OutKast to Tip, and also jazz. I grew up on a lot diverse music, but OutKast was definitely my first real impact from Hip Hop.

Parlé Mag:
At what point in time, specifically, did you opt to pursue music on a professional level?
Brandon Rossi:  That day I watched The Wiz in the first grade.

Parlé Mag:
That being said, and because you’re a bonafide quadruple threat – rapper, singer, songwriter and producer – how do you actually classify your overall sound and/or style?
Brandon Rossi:  I don’t know, my style is just what I feel. If I want to sing, I’m going to sing. If I’m going to rap, I’ll do the same.

Parlé Mag:
“DUMB”, the single dropped a couple months ago.  Tell me about this particular track? How did it come to fruition?
Brandon Rossi:  “Dumb” came about after a break-up. It’s based on a real situation.

Listen To “Dumb” Below:

Parlé Mag:   Also, you appear alongside T.I. and Killer Mike on “40 Acres,” taken from Tip’s recently released USorELSE EP — How did this collabo even come about?
Brandon Rossi:  “40 Acres” is actually like 2 years old. It was originally my solo record. I played it in the studio one day, and Tip heard (it) and hopped on it!

Parlé Mag:   You are currently signed to a publishing deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint — What particular string of events led to this unification?
Brandon Rossi:  Honestly, how I got signed to Roc Nation just happened. I had been working in the studio a lot, and a friend of mine knew someone who was super close with Lenny S., my manager at that time, (who) would just keep sending him songs… and we did a situation.

Parlé Mag:
What do you feel you bring to the music industry that we don’t already have in other performers?
Brandon Rossi:  I mean, honestly.  My story is my story, my truth is my truth.

Parlé Mag:
Have you encountered any problems in getting to this point in your career?
Brandon Rossi:  No problems, just lessons.

Parlé Mag:
What do you want people to get from your music?
Brandon Rossi:  To be encouraged!

Parlé Mag:
If you could collaborate with any one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Brandon Rossi:  Stevie Wonder, ’cause he’s the best at painting the picture to me.

Parlé Mag:
On a more serious note, would it be fair to say that you are happy with the current state of music?
Brandon Rossi:  The state of music isn’t something I ponder on. I’m just focusing (on) what I’m working, and enjoying what inspires me. I feel like we all make contributions to the state of music, either by listening or creating it.

Parlé Mag:   To date, what has been your biggest career moment, at least thus far anyway?
Brandon Rossi:  To me, every achievement is big ’cause this (is) my dream.

Parlé Mag:   Looking ahead, say five or maybe even ten years from now, where do you see yourself?
Brandon Rossi:  Um… I don’t know. I’m a one day at a time kind of guy. I’m working towards wealth for me and my family. I want to be stable in 10 years. All the accolades come with being great already and putting in work.

Parlé Mag:
As for the immediate, what’s next for you, Mr. Brandon Rossi?
Brandon Rossi:  New music, new music, new music… just new sh*t.

Parlé Mag:   Any “closing” thought(s) for our readers?
Brandon Rossi:  Go listen to that T.I. USorELSE EP and follow me on Instagram and Twitter at @lxrdrossi.
