It’s been a long while since the Cash Money crew made headlines but they haven’t been forgotten. ‘Til this day, their hit tracks still ring off in nightclubs and concerts around the nation just like it did back in the late ’90s to 2000s. In honor of the group’s legendary run, Birdman is set to reunite with Cash Money Millionaires as part of Essence Fest 2024 lineup.
Celebrating 30 years of both Cash Money and Essence Fest, Birdman and the crew will reportedly have a reunion performance at the event. It’s scheduled to go down during Independence Day weekend at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.
Essence Magazine’s social media team took to X formerly known as Twitter to announce the exciting news this week.
“Put some RESPECT on the NAME. Let’s go 30 years for 30 years and start this thing off with New Orleans. The most anticipated reunion goes down at this year’s ESSENCE Fest. You asked, and we delivered. Birdman Presents: 30 years of Cash Money Millionaires. For the love of CULTURE. For the love of the US. For the love of the 99′ and 2000 – The Takeover has begun. Your July 4th weekend plans have just been confirmed. We have seen and read all the comments. Turn the notifications ON, the rollout is HERE. Sorry for the late notice — Here WE COME. In case you weren’t outside–or maybe too young because millennials weren’t quite of age yet and Gen Z wasn’t even a thought–during Cash Money’s iconic run, they dropped a ton of hit songs back in the day. The group included the Hot Boys; Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, and Turk as well as the Big Tymers; Birdman and Mannie Fresh.
The full Essence Fest 2024 lineup has yet to be revealed and it isn’t yet clear as to which Cash Money members will be performing. However, you can stay tuned with Parle Mag for more updates on who will show up alongside Birdman for the big show.
On top of announcing the Cash Money reunion, Essence Fest shared that it will contribute $30,000 to the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Fund Grant Program, “furthering its dedication to preserving the rich culture of the city and our local efforts there.”
