Angie Stone Revolutionizing Her Life, Bringing You The 'Unexpected'

Parlé Magazine took the extra time to speak with one of our favorite soul sisters, Ms. Angie Stone. Last year, this vixen was at it again dropping her fifth studio album, Unexpected.

Half way through creating the album her father passed away. He was her best-friend and life mentor. His sudden death was unexpected and this is where she grabbed her album title. She focused on her love and the bond they shared all of her life and brought us a stellar album.

Angie’s health has been filled with crazy ups and downs and recently she was diagnosed with Diabetes, one of the three million African-Americans diagnosed with the illness in the United States. She is not losing this battle. Angie has taken full charge of her health. She wants to help spread the word even more about the illness and she wants more lives to be saved from this silent killer. Angie Stone is one of the spokespersons for F.A.C.E. Diabetes, the national Fearless African- Americans Connected and Empowered campaign, created to build awareness and foster support for African Americans with type-2 diabetes.

Parlé: Angie, what was the response from the fans with that last album, Unexpected?

Angie Stone: I have the best fans in the world. They have embraced it and I am thankful for their support.

Parle: You are a Diva on the go, what are you doing for the month of November?

Angie: I am on the go. After we wrap up this interview I go and finish packing. I am headed to Africa to perform and support my people. I have always wanted to go there and this is my first time.

Parle: Ok, sounds good. You are looking more beautiful than ever and very healthy. What changes have you made??

Angie: I have taken complete control of my health. I still eat the things I love, but all in moderation. I found out that my kids were closet eaters and with my Diabetes and having other family members that also have this illness having control was the only alternative. I am in charge of the food shopping in my home. I have never felt better.

Parle: The year is almost at an end. Would you care to share your plans for 2011?

Angie: I am working on two movies, ‘Boulevard West’ and ‘Protocol’. I’m also working on a television show called ‘Ancestors’. I am very excited about all of these acting projects. It gives me another outlet to interact with my fans and our community.

Parle: I know family is very important to you. We were wondering what you are doing for this Thanksgiving??

Angie: Well I am cooking, honey. I am doing it all except the ham. We do both turkey and ham and with all the healthy eating we can only choose one.

I enjoy this holiday and love spending time with my family.

Parle: Angie thanks so much for this time out from your very busy agenda. Looking forward to another interview with you for 2011!
