A Haunted House 2 movie review

It’s a Marlon Wayne’s movie what do want me to say? It was bleeping hilarious. Literally as soon as the movie started the theatre was roaring in laughter and I’m not even exaggerating. The opening scene for A Haunted House 2 was arguably the most funny (actually during the Q&A after the screening an audience member said it was his favorite part). Co-star Affion Crokett is one of the first characters you’re reintroduced to and he had my stomach hurting early. I’m going to just say that I would’ve liked to see more of him in the film. Hey, Marlon told us to be honest in our critiques. With that said though, the film still surpassed the expectations of a sequel.

The plot is ridiculous as you can expect – I mean Marlon (as Malcolm) is having an affair with a possessed wooden doll for crying out loud. I swear to you I’m laughing as I type just thinking of how ludicrous it was. One fourth of The Kings of Comedy, heavyweight, Cedric the Entertainer plays an unruly, out of hand priest—comical. Gabriel Iglesias plays the Mexican neighbor—too funny and Affion [pictured below] as Cousin Ray Ray takes the cake.

If you need a reason to laugh, been stressed out lately, this is the perfect mini vacay from real life. It’s filled with no holds barred racial comedy so if you’re sensitive to that you may want to—what am I saying? I’m sensitive to that and I couldn’t help but holler! I’ll admit there were times I was thinking “ok now, this is just stupid” but in a matter of minutes I was laughing again.

You have to credit Marlon for being so fearless with his films. This one definitely goes to some rarely visited places including race as I mentioned, interracial dating, religion and sex. There were times when I honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or walk out but I stayed seated and I think Marlon achieved what he set out to—to get people to just calm down, loosen up and take a few minutes to escape from the oversensitive, uptight world we live in.

After the movie we had the pleasure of a Q&A session with some of the cast including Marlon Waynes, this turned out to be a comedy show in itself. It was actually really fun to be a part of.

Here are a few funny facts we learned about the actors and the making of the film:

~It was made on a tight budget (Someone asked if they had to take excessive takes while filming, Marlon answered “ We didn’t do a lot of re-takes cause we didn’t have the budget to do a lot of re-takes we had to keep it moving.”

~75% of the film was improved! (pay attention to the last scene in the house, the entire scene was improved!)

~Marlon says he misses working with his brothers and they’re working on the First Wayans’ Brother’s tour!

SO get ready to laugh, get ready to see a lot of Marlons ass (yeah I said that right) and even prepare to jump out of freight a few times. This is one of those “I’m just sick of being serious, I wanna act a damn fool” films—enjoy, I know I did!
