Women all over the US are raving about clip-in hair extensions. Hair extensions allow women to change their look without having to worry about tedious salon maintenance. They look natural and can be styled anyway they want.

Hairstylists highly recommend real hair extensions clip in type mostly. Girls can easily attach and remove them without professional help. Since these extensions are made from real hair, it seamlessly blends with natural hair. They can also withstand various styling techniques that can last for a very long time with proper maintenance.

First and foremost, you want to make sure you get your extensions from one of the best to do it when it comes to Black hair.  That that, you need Curlsqueen.

If you are one of the hundreds of women who are taking charge of their beauty routine with real hair extensions, here are the ways to care and maintain for them so you can have luscious locks for years to come.

  • Wash Them Gently

Hair extensions do not produce oil anymore, so it is best to wash them twice a week. Frequent washing may cause abrupt damage, so observe the recommended frequency.

Follow these simple steps for proper washing:

  • Unclip the hair extensions from your real hair.
  • Prepare a bath by diluting a teaspoon of shampoo with one-half cup of warm water.
  • Fill a basin or your sink with warm water and add the shampoo mixture.
  • You may get rid of tangles by combing your extensions before dipping them in water. Gently brush the ends first. Then, brush the middle part, followed by the roots going all the way to the end.
  • Soak the extensions for about 10 minutes. Avoid swirling or shaking them since it will cause them to form tangles.
  • Rinse the hair extensions under cold running water to lock in moisture. Squeeze out excess water.
  • Place them above a clean towel to dry overnight. But make sure to dry the clips to prevent rust.
  • Use Natural and Organic Hair Products

The clip-in hair extensions may not produce oils anymore, but they still contain some amount that serves as protection. To maintain its natural shine, use sulfate-free shampoo. Sulfates are active cleansing agents; however, they tend to dry and damage hair. These synthetic chemicals can also make your hair look frizzy and can cause the dreaded split ends.

You could extend the life of your extensions by using natural and organic products. It may not foam as much as the ones with sulfate, but you are assured that your hair only gets the gentle treatment it deserves.

  • Remember to Condition Regularly

Your real clip-in hair extensions, yaki clip-in types have a protective cuticle layer that protects the hair strand. When the hair is exposed to sunlight, the coating breaks down, making your hair dull and dry. To bring back your extension’s shine, use a conditioner that also contains natural ingredients. The conditioner can repair the damage and moisturize the hair extensions for a perfect bounce and sheen.

For extensions that are wavy or curly, stylists recommend using a leave-in conditioner to reign in the frizz.

  • Brush Regularly

Make it a habit to brush your extensions every day using a wide-paddle brush. You may use a moisturizing spray made from essential oils and water to maintain your hair’s luster.

  • Keep Your Extensions Properly

When not in use, keep your extensions in their original box to protect them from insects, dirt, and moisture.
